About the Junior Fair Board

The 172 nd Old Reliable Germantown Fair will begin August 3rd and run through the 8th
this year. We are looking for some young folks who want to help the fair survive and
thrive. We need Junior Fair Board members to help us achieve this goal. If you begin
your journey as a junior fair board member at the end of your 8th grade school year, you
will have the opportunity to apply for a $2,000 scholarship if you are chosen to represent
our fair in the state competition.
What do you have to do to become a member? Complete a Junior Fair Board
application. This requires a letter of recommendation and parent/guardian approval for
you to participate. Who is most likely to have the opportunity to have their application
submitted to the state? State winners are those who participate in events such as
showing livestock, having entries in 4-H, FFA and/or Open classes in the exhibit hall,
participating in motor sports and/or pageants.
What do you do as a Junior Fair Board member? Begin by helping with sign-ups for
activities (exhibit hall, livestock), help with food sales, getting folks things they need,
setting up awards, etc.
Junior Fair Board applications are available on our website (germantownfair.com).
They have been emailed to the extension offices and FFA advisors in Mason, Bracken
and Robertson Counties. If you have any questions or need any further information,
contact LuAnn Asbury (luasbury@outlook.com).
